St Philip Neri Receives CFO Grant

The Religious Education Department of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Midwest City received a Catholic Foundation of Oklahoma educational grant in the amount of $1,200.
The monies were used to purchase several Chromebooks to aid religious educations instructors, in particular the RCIA and RCIC programs, in their weekly classes.

St. Philip Neri recently built a $2.4 million Family Life Center complete with meeting rooms and included advanced technology such as smart televisions. The addition of Chromebooks allows catechists to cast lessons from their tablet to the television for easy access to online resources plus the ability to be environmentally friendly. St. Philip Neri Director of Religious Education, Laurann Donahue, explains, “Just last week we were able to watch a lesson on the sacrament of Reconciliation from formed.org without a DVD. We simply logged on and cast the lesson to the television which was captivating to our young audience.” Donahue continued, “Furthermore, we are saving on the cost of DVD purchases and presentation aids.”

According to their website, The Catholic Foundation of Oklahoma awarded over $100,000 in grants in 2017 citing, “Whether textbooks or laptops, 'Investing in the Future of our Our Faith' remains our goal as we education the next generation of Catholic men and women.”
