Golden Angels

Purpose and Function of the St. Philip Neri Golden Angels

The SPN Golden Angels organization promotes Spiritual, Educational, and Social growth of the individual members.

It undertakes or assists with projects for the good of the Parish and the community.

It provides members an opportunity to enjoy social, cultural, spiritual and educational activities as a

group for the purpose of building up the parish community.

Any parishioner 50 or over is welcome.

The “Golden Angels” is an organization by the seniors and for the seniors of the parish who are 50 years of age or older, or whose spouse is 50 years of age or older. The group has a monthly social with a meal at the church, takes trips to points of interest, has seminars on topics of interest and has Christ as the center of the program.

Other things we do:

- Provide cookies to parishioners after Sunday Masses

- Provide an e-mail newsletter each month

- Promote the exercise classes of the Parish Nurse

Golden Angels Newsletter

NOVEMBER SOCIAL; Friday, NOVEMBER 3 at 5:30 p.m. This is our annual Thanksgiving dinner featuring turkey, dressing and gravy furnished by the Board. Others furnish sides. Please be prompt as the church door will be
locked at 5:25 p.m. and you will not be able to get it. If you did not sign up to attend, come anyway just bring either a salad or dessert.

BOARD MEMBERS; Congratulations to Bernie Abernathy, Diana McCarthy and Tony Schones who volunteered to serve on the Board for the next three years. Our thanks to Edith Dietz, Helen Breeden and Vinola Smith for their years of faithful service to the Golden Angels.

HOLIDAY PAINT PARTY; Thursday, November 16th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Felician Hall $20.00 per person includes light refreshments. Money can be given to Margie Madden or Leonora Stramski. Please sign up in the Narthex. This is open to whoever wants to attend.

DECEMBER SOCIAL; This is important because we will meet on Friday, December 8th at 12:00 p.m. in the St. Augustine room in the new Family Center. We had a request that we have the December, January and February social in the day time because it is safer getting out then rather than at nighttime darkness. Please pass the word and lets have good attendance.

CHRISTMAS CARDS; Tony Schones will be collecting unwanted Christmas Cards to be packaged in small amounts and delivered to the Veterans Hospital or nursing homes. If you have extra cards, bring them to the social.

HOTDOGS FOR THE HOMELESS; We have been asked to help support this charitable program that
has been in existence for at least 15 years in OKC. Beth and Javier Solis are involved in this and
they asked if the Golden Angels could wrap packages of mayo and mustard in a napkin and
secured with a rubber band. We can do this while we visit after dinner.

Jesus wants evangelizers who proclaim the Good News not only with words, but above all by a life transfigured by God's presence. -Pope Francis
