Golden Angels

Purpose and Function of the St. Philip Neri Golden Angels

The SPN Golden Angels organization promotes Spiritual, Educational, and Social growth of the individual members.

It undertakes or assists with projects for the good of the Parish and the community.

It provides members an opportunity to enjoy social, cultural, spiritual and educational activities as a

group for the purpose of building up the parish community.

Any parishioner 50 or over is welcome.

The “Golden Angels” is an organization by the seniors and for the seniors of the parish who are 50 years of age or older, or whose spouse is 50 years of age or older. The group has a monthly social with a meal at the church, takes trips to points of interest, has seminars on topics of interest and has Christ as the center of the program.

Other things we do:

- Provide cookies to parishioners after Sunday Masses

- Provide an e-mail newsletter each month

- Promote the exercise classes of the Parish Nurse

DECEMBER  SOCIAL;  Friday,  December 8th at 12:00 noon in the new Family Center St. Augustine Room.  Entrance to the St. Augustine room is through the school door or through the church office door.  Either way one must ring the bell before the door will open.  This is a change from our usual evening social because it was requested for the months of December, January and February thus enabling us to be home before dark.  The menu is pot luck so you can be assured there will be something to satisfy your taste.  We will have some young Christmas carolers.  Please come and make this a joyous event.

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS;  A SPN Golden Angels Christmas Light Bus Tour is planned for Wednesday, December 13th.  We will meet at Pelicans Restaurant (Reno and Air Depot) at 4:30 p.m. for an early supper, and then afterwards we will board the SPN bus and take a ride to Yukon and Midwest City to see the Christmas lights.  The bus will return us to the Pelican’s parking lot around 8 – 8:30 p.m. The only cost for this trip is your dinner and Pelicans always generously gives us a senior discount.  An envelope will be passed for a voluntary contribution for use of the bus.

NOVEMBER SOCIAL was attended by 41 parishioners who enjoyed turkey baked by Carolyn Roberts and David Craigie who also made the gravy.  Edith Deitz made the dressing and you all brought the sides.  A great meal and then 10 good games of Bingo with prizes furnished by Margie Madden.  Many thanks to all of you who       make the Golden Angels such an amazing organization.

HOLIDAY PAINT PARTY was held on Thursday, Nov. 16 with  18 people enjoying the fellowship, food and         relaxing with paint brushes and painting some beautiful angels. Another social sponsored by the Golden Angels organization.

CHRISTMAS CARDS;  Tony Schones will be collecting unwanted Christmas Cards to be packaged in small amounts and delivered to the Veterans Hospital or nursing homes.  If you have extra cards bring them to the social on Friday.  This is the last time she will accept them this year.

COOKIES;  No cookies in December.  Next cookie day is Sunday, January 21, 2018.

PLEASE attend the December social.  Some important business needs to be addressed.

‘Till next time.  Leonora
